Two police officers arrested over seizure of 2,658 ammunition in Laikipia
The two officers have been suspended from the National Police Service, Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome said in a press release.
Two senior police officers have been arrested in connection to last week's seizure of 2,658 rounds of ammunition at a home in Minjore, Laikipia County.
Chief Inspector Joel Warui Githaiga and Police Constable Martin Murimi from Anti-Stock-Theft Unit Sondu Camp are suspected to be part of a syndicate allegedly involved in the sale of ammunition to criminals.

Detectives on Monday sought four more days to finalize investigations before the officers, alongside a couple; Josphat Maina Karanja and Teresiah Wairimu from whose home the ammunition were recovered last Wednesday, take a plea.
The four will be charged before Kibera Law Courts on Friday.
The two officers have been suspended from the National Police Service, Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome said in a press release.
He further cautioned Kenyans against unauthorized purchase, possession, manufacture and sale of firearms and ammunition.
"Report any such activities to the nearest police station or through police toll-free numbers 999, 911, 112," Koome said.
The IG vowed stern action against any officer involved in unethical conduct like the sale of ammunition, regardless of their rank.
